Laser Cutting Technology and Advantages
| Technology |
The workpiece is cut by a computer controlled high power laser beam. The cutting
action is created by heat energy from the laser as it melts or vaporizes the material. Any residual
molten material is then blown away by pressurized gas, leaving behind a high quality edge. |
| Advantages |
Laser cutting can be utilized with virtually any material. Even workpieces that are surface
coated result in precise, clean cuts that often do not require any further processing. Laser
cutting is ideal for carbon steel, stainless steel and sheet metal. This fast, repeatable and
highly accurate process allows for high production runs.
• No physical contact with workpiece
• Smaller heat affected zone than plasma cutting
• Minimal material warping
• Precision cutting
• Complex contours
I• Intricate shapes
• Quiet
• Clean edges
• Narrow kerf
• Part nesting
• No tool wear
